Tyke Selects Participate in the Blue & Gold Classic
This past weekend, the Tyke Select team, participated in their second tournament of the season. The team traveled to Bradford to play in the Blue & Gold Classic.

The first game, the Jr. Vets faced off against the North Toronto Red team. The Jr. Vets showed a lot of heart for the duration of the game but lost 7-1. The lone goal was scored when Natalia took a shot from the blue line and team speedster Kingston was able to rush in and shoot the rebound past the goalie.

The three stars of the game were Kingston, who was rewarded with a goal by hustling hard to the net. Aaron, who battled hard for the entire game and was a thorn in the side of the opposition. Alexandria who played aggressive defense throughout the entire contest.

In the second game of the tournament, the Jr. Vets battled the Peterborough Minor Petes. It was a very exciting game that saw chances at both ends of the ice. Late in the third period, Woodstock was able to score a goal which tied the match at 2-2. With a couple minutes left in the game, Will was able to gain possession of the puck deep in the Petes zone and made a great hard pass to Parker in the slot, who hammered home the go ahead goal. Nate and Omar made great saves throughout the game including some chances in the final minute to preserve the victory for the Jr. Vets.

In the third and final game, the Jr. Vets played a tough opponent in the Sudbury Wolves. The Wolves skated to a 8-0 victory, but the one thing the scoreboard did not show, is how much heart the Jr. Vets showed in this game. They never gave up, never complained, all they did was skate hard and battle continuously for the puck.

Three stars of the game were Nick, who played great defense and played tough on the puck. Colin who played his position well and battled for the puck. Omar who turned aside a lot of tough shots during the game.

The tournament MVP was Parker, who scored a hat trick against the Peterborough Petes.

More important than any award or game score, the Jr. Vets were able to enjoy a lot of time together off the ice. The team spent a lot of time at the hotel pool, playing mini sticks, enjoying some intense games of Spot It!, and just hanging out! It was great to see all the smiling faces enjoying each others company throughout the weekend.

Go Vets Go!!!!
