Jr. Navy Vets Win Silver Medal at BCHL Tournament of Friends!
The Woodstock Tyke Select Jr. Vets participated in their first tournament of the season this past weekend in Brantford. The Jr. Vets opened up the schedule with a game against the Brantford 99ers on Friday evening. It was a hard fought game which ended in a 6-2 loss. The player MVP of the game was Omar who made numerous big saves in this game and throughout the entire tournament.

In the second game of the tournament, the Tyke Selects faced off against the West London Bruins. The Jr. Vets skated to a 8-5 win and played a great team game. The player of the game was Cohen who showed a lot of grit and determination throughout the game.

In the third and final game of the round robin, Woodstock defeated the West London Penguins by the score of 6-3. This victory secured a game in the semi finals against the West London Bruins. The player of the game was Natalia, who scored a goal on her birthday!

The semi-final game was a memorable one! The Jr. Vets were down 3-1 and in the third period and were able to fight all the way back and force overtime! A couple minutes into the overtime period, a West London player stormed down the ice and had a clear breakaway on Omar. Omar stood his ground and robbed the Bruins of an overtime victory. It was the save of the tournament. Moments later, the Jr. Vets were able to get some pressure in the West London zone when Parker was able to sneak a puck past the goalie and give Jr. Vets the victory and the chance to play in the championship game! The player of the game was Parker, who scored the tying goal and the overtime winner.

Waiting to face the Jr. Vets in the final, was the Brantford 99ers. Woodstock was able to storm out to an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals by Will. The Jr. Vets battled hard throughout the game, but were unable to hold off the 99ers, who went on to win the game 3-2. Player of the game was Will who scored 2 goals in the game.

Tournament MVP was Nate who made big saves throughout the tournament.

The Jr. Vets earned a silver medal and gained a lot of experience playing as a team. We couldn't be prouder of how much heart this group of kids showed! In two weeks, these wonderful players will be playing in the Bradford Blue & Gold Classic.
