To: all parents/guardians and players to this year’s tryouts. We are very excited to get things underway.
Our goal for the year is to compete for a AA title at the provincial level, and to win the International Silver Stick. In order to achieve this goal, we need a strong contribution from 17 players. We will be focusing on competing hard as a team, and winning by committee. Every player that we select will be given a fair chance to earn our trust, and play at critical moments. This goes for every position. We expect every player to show up to the rink ready to perform at the best of their ability, be a supportive teammate both on and off the ice, and positively represent the City of Woodstock.
All 6 members of our staff played in the WoodstockMinor Hockey system for the same age group. We have experience winning at the local, provincial, and international levels. We understand that with the high quality of rep hockey in this area, it takes full commitment from everyone involved to win at the highest level. We will select the players that possess the qualities we value most. These include a high compete level, creativity, passing ability, and strong awareness at both ends of the rink. We are looking for players who are determined to get better every single day, and give 100% every ice time. This includes shooting pucks and developing strength and speed away from the rink. At the rep level, every other team is full of players who are putting in the work. It is our responsibility as a group, and as individuals, to exceed their work ethic and continually get better. This goes for our staff as well. We are committed to doing everything possible to improve this hockey team, and develop each player’s skills, abilities, and hockey IQ during the time we have with them.
