SILVER STICK QUALIFIER CHAMPIONS!!!!!
The Legion Tournament Committee Minor Atom Rep team was
victorious this weekend capturing the Silver Stick qualifier in Woodstock.
The boys defeated the Erie North Shore Storm 3-2 in OT. The boys came back twice during the game as they were down 1-0 and 2-1 during the game. With the goalie pulled and the boys pressing, their hard work paid off by scoring the tying goal with a minute left in the game. The boys then continued the pressure in OT and scored the winning goal.
During the round robin portion of the tournament, the boys went 2-1 with an OT loss in the first game to Erie North 2-1 and then followed with wins over the Burlington Eagles 7-2 and Sarnia Jr Sting 3-1. The semi-finals were played against London Jr Mustangs Purple where the boys were down 1-0 heading into the final period. The boys continued to work hard and eventually won the game 2-1. Winning this tournament has qualified the team to participate in the International Silver Stick Championship in Newmarket this coming January.
The coaching staff is so proud of these boys as they battled all weekend. We would also like to thank all of the parents, family and friends that came out to cheer on the boys throughout the weekend.
