14th Annual Capital Winter Classic
On January 19, 2018 the Minor Atom Team took to Ottawa Ontario for the 14th Annual Capital Winter Classic Tournament.  The weekend started out strong, and continued to build in many aspects both on and off the ice.

On ice the team pulled together on every shift and every line to take the team to the finals and ultimately win their division on Sunday in a battle vs. the Osgoode Rideau Romans with a 6-2 win.  Despite the excitement of the hockey, and taking in the sites of Ottawa, the kids took the time to make this a very special weekend as many of the players knew a young boy, Gage Foster, who lost his battle to brain cancer earlier that week.  The kids felt they needed to win the tournament for Gage who they knew loved hockey and the colour orange representing The Edmonton Oilers.  As a tribute to Gage on Saturday the team taped their sticks in orange for the rest of the tournament to honor this young boy.
