Off Ice Session #1 Recap
Our first session was a great success.  We went over the intent of the off-ice sessions and did a number of drills.  Please read further for a recap of what was covered.

Off-ice training is a great way to improve hockey skills.  The intention of the sessions are to review a number of activities or skills that can be performed through the year in order to become better players, as well as getting an early start to the season.  We only get a limited amount of time to work on the ice, and many hockey skills are difficult to master using just practice and game time.  Many activities can be performed to improve, including 1) activities that will boost speed, agility, and strength, 2) shooting and passing pucks, and 3) stick-handling and puck possession skills.

The first session including the following:
    - discussion and overview of the session
    - warm-up activities (exercises and stretching)
    - speed / agility skills
    - stick handling skills
    - shooting (using flex to make a wrist shot) / passing skills
    - ball hockey scrimmage
   - wrap up discussion

I have created a video that goes through the drills we worked on in this session (starring Jesse and myself).  See the quick links.

If you are interested in viewing more stick-handling skills, I would suggest checking out the link added for Stick Handling Fundamentals.

If you are interested in viewing more on shooting hard wrist shots using the flex of your stick, I would suggest going to the link on Wrist Shot Fundamentals
