Peewee's Earn Tourney Title
The Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets major peewee team went undefeated to win the Halton Hills Best-of-the-Best tournament ‘A’ division championship Oct. 9 to 12.
Woodstock began their tournament quickly with a 5-1 victory over Brampton Friday morning in their lone game that day. On the second day, the Jr. Navy Vets beat Whitby 3-1 and had a 1-1 tie against Oakville later Saturday. Woodstock finished the round robin with a 3-0 win over the hometown Halton Hills to advance to the semifinals.
In their first playoff game, Woodstock met Whitby once again and jumped out to an early 2-0 lead. After getting into penalty trouble in the second period, Woodstock went on to win 2-1 and clinch a spot in the finals.In the championship game, the Jr. Navy Vets played Oakville, who they tied earlier in the round robin, after Oakville defeated Burlington in the other semifinal game. Woodstock once again came out with an early 2-0 lead and continued their dominance with a 3-1 win.
In two tournaments this season, the Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets major peewee team has a record of nine wins, one tie and one loss. They finished second in the Essex Early Bird tournament earlier this season. Great effort boys!
