WMHA Preparation Plans for moving into control “RED”
Submitted By Sarah Rider on Tuesday, December 8, 2020
This year has been a year of exceptional challenges. These challenges have been met through the hard work and cooperation of the many coaches, volunteers and parents of Woodstock Minor Hockey. Through their diligence, it has allowed us to keep kids active and engaged during this pandemic and turbulent time. A huge thank you for continuing to make this season possible for all our kids.

To that end, there has been much speculation as to what minor hockey will look like if our region moves to the next level. Rest assured, WMHA has developed a plan to put in place if, and when, Southwest public Health moves our region into “control Red”. This plan will allow ALL levels of WMHA association (house league, MD and Rep) to continue to provide kids the opportunity to play and be active.

This change to “Red” includes:

10 skaters on the ice  plus 2 coaches on ice
Additional coach and trainer in the stands
1 parent/guardian per child as needed will be allowed

No players benches
No Dressing rooms
Players will need to come dressed except for skates/helmets  (use skate change areas)

No game or scrimmage play
Skill based drills (6 ft Physical distancing needs to maintained in all activities)
Coaches are not to yell, but communicate in a normal volume level
Sign in table will still be required for entry

Please note that these are not WMHA regulations, but the parameters given to us by the City of Woodstock and the Board of Health. We are simply trying to make the best of a tough situation in the best interests of the kids.

On behalf of Woodstock Minor Hockey please stay safe, stay active and stay healthy.
